NOEL is beautiful, young, carefree, energetic and very loving girl who just wants to have fun!  She LOVES playing with the other dogs, going on walks, or just generally doing whatever her family is doing.  She's going to make someone a FANTASTIC buddy and companion!

Noel is amazing.  She was seized for extreme cruelty - starved, dehydrated, and out in the elements with no shelter from the cold, wet, or heat.  But despite her suffering at the hands of a few heartless humans, she still LOVES people and can't get enough of you!  She's one of those dogs that just make you grin watching her exuberance and zest for life.  She's a sweet little girl who LOVES her people. She's learning basic manners and doing very well, so we think she'll be easy to train.  The first new behavior she had to practice was waiting at baby gates or backyard fences -- and she wanted to follow her person so badly that she climbed the fence simply to go sit next to her person on the other side!  With a 6 ft fence she will be fine.  With a somewhat lover fence, she will need complete supervision until  in the backyard to avoid escaping.  .

She's learning crate manners and was much happier once she discovered her crate had a nice soft bed! She groans a little when put in her crate -- you know, like the child who groans when it's bedtime? -- but then settles down.  She has also learned to wait to be released.  She's learning quickly and is proving to be quite a sweetheart with a nice balance of patience and energy.

Overall, Noel is joy-on-four-legs and therefore a joy for us humans to be around and watch!

Noel must have a doggie buddy to play and romp with!  She gets along well with other dogs and has energy to burn.  She has lived with all large dogs and romped happily, chasing and being chased.  Her current foster home has 1 large dog and 2 small dogs and she does great with all of them.  She's very excited to play and plays nicely even with the dogs a quarter of her size.  She's still got a lot of puppy in her and occasionally doesn’t notice when the small dogs tell her they're tired, so you may have to remind her that play time is over.  But she takes correction easily and is perfectly willing to go inside and let the other dogs rest.  Noel has a mild-to-moderate small prey drive and can not be in a home with cats.

Noel has not yet been tested with kids.  We believe her only issue will be that of any large, strong and energetic dog:  the potential to be too rough in play and knock a child over, or collide with a child.  As with all large dogs, she must be supervised around small children just to be sure things don't get too rough.

Noel is a healthy, strong youngster with a long life ahead of her.  She was originally heartworm positive but has been treated and is heartworm free.

DOGS:    Does well with large and small dogs! (currently lives with 1 large and 2 small dogs)
CATS:     No cats (mild-to-moderate prey drive)
KIDS:      Not tested yet, believe will do well with supervision to prevent accidents
IDEAL FAMILY:   An active family with at least one other dog and a 6 ft fence (strongly recommended).  A family who will spend the time to exercise her and stimulate her, and finish her training using good canine leadership skills.

If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable furball
who will love you forever,
NOEL is your girl!

This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so o

More about Noel

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
