TEMPERAMENT/BEHAVIOR
Delta is a sweetheart who love attention and love from her foster parents and her older foster brothers. She is a typical GSD puppy who is curious about the world and thrives when she is given training and boundaries. She plays and learns from the other dogs and is also learning when to give them space when they need it.
TRAINING
Delta is learning every day! She knows her name 100%, if you say it her head will whip around in your direction, and she's done very well working on her recall in the yard and house. She has been working hard on her potty training and is almost there! She is also working on her jumping. She will be overdramatic at times to “get out” of things like nail trimming. She also does not love car rides. She's been REALLY good about not chewing anything she shouldn't! When she does make a move toward something that is not a dog toy, she moves on quickly when corrected.
She's crate trained in that she'll keep her kennel clean while she's in there. She does whine and yelp when she's first put in her kennel and will carry on for 15 minutes or so, then settle. If she can hear you in the house, she'll keep it up for a while longer before settling. She's gotten a lot better at "settling" before the kennel door is opened to let her out. She is also working waiting for her food rather than diving in head-first before the bowl even hits the ground.
She does sleep in her kennel in her own room at night and will sleep through the whole night, usually waking up around 6:30. When she goes to bed she doesn't usually whine, bark or yelp. So, if she DOES in the middle of the night, it's because she needs to potty and doesn't want to do it in her kennel.
PEOPLE
Delta will alert her foster parents to the dangers of the backyard with a little bark, ie. other people coming and going but has met people and warmed right up to them.
OTHER ANIMALS
She gets along well with her older foster brothers and seems to understand that they all prefer different levels of interaction. She plays hard with one, chases another tentatively but backs off when she needs to and successfully pushes the third one to play with her more than he originally wanted.
