CADY
September 16, 2010 At 1:30 a.m., Cady girl died of an apparent heart defect. Her mom was awakened by Cady screaming, though her body remained still. Her mom thought she was having a bad dream and tried to awaken Cady, but within 20 seconds Cady was gone. Her mom is devastated, and her doggie brother Sid is looking for his sister. Cady had 2 and 1/2 years of a wonderful loving life, after being rescued from severe abuse and neglect in southern MO. Cady had come such a long way in her battle against separation anxiety, and had found the love of her life in her family. Her loving, goofy ways will be sorely missed.

ANDY
March 23, 2011 Andy was a severely starved 12-14 yr old GSD who was about to be killed in a local pound for the crime of being old and emaciated. No one wanted him.  No rescue would take him.  But we weren't about to let this guy die knowing only human cruelty.  He caught at our hearts - spunky and loving despite everything he had endured.  We knew he might not have much time left but it didn't matter to us.  Wonderful fosters Pat and Diane took him into their home and pack to make his final days comfortable.  Andy only had 6 weeks with us, but they were filled with incredible homecooked meals, tons of love and hugs, lots of great doggie companionship, and a warm, comfy bed.  Andy ate and slept and napped in the sun.  He played a little, buddied up to his doggie brothers, and trotted around a bit in his funny old-man stiff-legged way (see the video).  To the very end, Andy showed the fight that kept him alive during the bad winter months when he was on the streets, an old dog abandoned, alone and starving.  When Andy began to suffer from a large, malignant tumor of the mouth that was untreatable, we gently held him while he slipped away to the Rainbow Bridge.  We're so grateful Andy came to us.  He enriched the lives of all who met him, teaching us about survival and real love. Rest in peace, Andy.  You are loved.
