NATALIE is a beautiful 3 yr old German Shepherd who's just the right age for those wanting a dog who's out of the "puppy stage"! She's just emerging from true puppyhood and getting her feet as an adult - and she's an absolute love.
"Nat" was surrendered by her owner after she kept escaping their short (4 ft) fence and caused the owner to be ticketed. The reason for her escapes was that she was forced to live outdoors 24/7 and was bored out of her mind. But instead of bringing her indoors and treating her as a loved famiy member, the owner was so put out by having to pay tickets that he opened the gate in hopes she would just wander off. But instead she stuck around the house - so the owner then put her in his truckl, drove off with her, and returned without her! He had dumped her some miles away. But Natalie was unwilling to give up the only home she'd ever known and found her way back home, ever loyal to these cruel owners. And then the most horrendous of all: the owner tried several times to run her over with his truck!
Fortunately a neighbor saw all this, finally had enough of the cruelty, took her in, got the owner to surrender her, and called for help.
Tragically, Nat's son is still stuck in that horrible backyard 24/7 and is now all alone. The owner refused to give him up, claiming that he "likes" the son. Please join us in praying that one day we may be able to rescue her son from his life of hell, too.
Natalie had no manners when she came to us, as is true of most outdoor dogs. But she's like so many such dogs who continue to love humans despite being so cruelly treated! And a lover she is .... she adores people, adores playing, loves being with the other dogs to play and romp! She's enjoying life to the hilt now, at a wonderful foster home where she's an indoor dog and has a couple of GSD play buddies. Natalie has a lot of energy but is not over-the-top and settles nicely once properly exercised.
Natalie is now house trained and crate trained, and her house manners are vastly improved. She's a smart cookie and she's responding beautifully to training. All sheneeds is a family who will continue the training and socialization we've begun, and be consistent with it. And then WOW! She's going to be one spectacular dog!
Natalie will soon start treatment for heartworms, which her owners' neglect allowed her to contract (failed to give her the simple monthly preventive). After 30 days of staying quiet, she'll be fine.
Only one VERY lucky family will have Natalie as their lifetime buddy - and be the lucky recipients of every ounce of her love and loyalty! Just watching her enjoy life so much will tickle your funny bone and give you hours of enjoyment. Are YOU that lucky family? Apply now!

NATALIE's ADOPTION FEE: $300 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend
over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
