ENZO is a stunning young hunk of a GSD who's young, and rambunctious. He's full of energy and needs constant exercise to burn it all off. He requires daily exercise of at least one full hour of strenuous play or running, in addition to walks.
Enzo must have a strong canine leader. His original owners left him totally alone all the time, and all he ever learned was (a) to get his own way, and (b) to guard "his" property and people. He has tremendous potential, but his new family MUST train him, socialize him, and exercise all precautions to keep him and those around him safe while he re-learns everything. HE IS A PROJECT DOG who, in the hands of a lesser leader, will not do well and will be overly and /or inappropriately protective.
A securely fenced yard and an active-yet-calm household are required. Enzo is crate trained and house trained.
A quick snapshot of ENZO:
- Approximate weight: Healthy weight is 85lbs; he is currently around 75lbs, so needs to gain approximately 10lbs
- Fence needs: Requires a 6' fence
- Owner type: Requires a STRONG CANINE LEADER, an owner with GSD or herding dog experience a plus! An active and calm owner who can commit to daily walks and exercise, strong leadership, and daily socialization. NEEDS STABILITY AND CONSISTENCY.
- Favorite activity: Fetching a ball, playing with other dogs, being with his people, snuggling!
- Activity level: High
- Other animals: NO cats, NO small dogs! Appears to be good with most medium to large dogs.
- Kids: Older/adult children only
DOGS: Would be good with the right doggie buddy. NO SMALL DOGS, large breed only.
CATS: No cats
KIDS: No small children

ENZO's ADOPTION FEE: $300 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend
over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
