BAILEY is ... what can we say ... almost perfect! She's a perfect size (medium), gorgeous (look at those markings!), has a gorgeous soft coat and cool coloring, is super affectionate, gentle, and a typical goofy youngster. If you're looking for a wonderful young companion for your active family, and have another dog for her to be buds with and learn from -- you've found your perfect dog!
Baily is only 6 months old but was put on a rural MO Swap N Shop page as a "Free Dog - Must Be Gone TODAY". This poor little sweetheart was brought from TX to MO by a military family who moved into an apartment. She went from having doggie company to being alone, in apartment -- and it's no surprise that she became anxious and destructive. The family finally tried crating her but it was all new to her and she cried and broke out, then chewed on some woodwork. The landlord said "go" and so the family dumped her on a free page to the first taker. Fortunately, one of our fantastic volunteers saw it first and we quickly rode to the rescue (literally).
We were shocked to discover that at 6 months old, Bailey had never been to the vet for anything! She had not had a single shot, despite being with the family since a young pup. She was full of worms and had ticks. And of course she was not spayed. So we took care of all her vetting and she's now ready to rock 'n roll!
What's more, she gets along with everyone - you couldn't ask for a sweeter dog. She loves the big dogs and the little ones, adults and children, you name it. Altho she's not completely housetrained yet she's' making excellent progress. After just a week in foster care she got used to her kennel and is learning not to come bounding out of it, out of car doors, etc. She's also learning to sit and wait to be released for her meals and treats. She's a smart little girl and it should not be hard to complete her training over the coming months!
And for a puppy, she's amazingly calm! Especially considering she has some heeler, husky and shepherd in her - all energetic breeds - her energy level is medium. She loves to play with the other foster dogs in her foster home (including a big 80 lb GSD), but she's always appropriate and pretty gentle. She loves to go out and run around the yard with abandon for 5-10 minutes in the morning and evening, but then she settles down nicely. She's content to lay by your side and chew on a bone or a toy after a reasonable amount of play.
Overall, her foster home says she's a darn near perfect little girl. She's only 30 lbs at 6 months old, and will be a medium sized dog. She does need a securely fenced yard as she CAN jump a 4 ft fence -- and will if she's left alone. She wants to be with you!
If you're looking for a nearly perfect family dog, who will love you and make you laugh for the rest of her life, look no further - BAILEY is that dog!

BAILEY is that furball!
BAILEY's ADOPTION FEE: $250
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
