TARI is a stunning black GSD who's looking for a loving, patient and committed home to call her own! Her original owners lovingly decided to give her up because their circumstances prevented them from givng her the training and socialization she needed. She had become overly protective and uncomfortable in the world around her. The terrific news is that she's now working that out in her fantastic foster home!
Tari has some trouble with anxiety and stress in new situations. Her foster dad saw some anxious behavior for the first week or so, but that faded away as she became comfortable and adjusted to her new surroundings. She's doing very well with strong leadership, regular exercise, and constant socialization that helps her understand and be comfortable with the big, wide world.
Tari is a super sweet girl who wants nothing more than to be with her human(s). She displays typical German Shepherd behaviors, and can be possessive of her person. When she's unsure of someone or something she has a tendency to bark at it, but thanks to her amazing foster dad she's learning to redirect and focus her attention on him. To help her be the best dog she can be, her forever family must continue to work on this with her on a regular basis. Tari is a gem of a girl who just needs excellent canine leadership with a family who will continue to teach her about the world around her, about the "rules" of dog and human life, and continue to socialize-socialize-socialize her.
Tari knows general obedience commands such as "sit", "down", and "kennel". She's extremely intelligent and picks up on new commands pretty quickly. She's housetrained and kennel trained, and is even learning to "wait" until her foster dad says it's OK to come out of her kennel.
Tari loves to play with her foster-fur siblings, all larger breed dogs (a GSD and Siberian Huskies). She can sometimes play a little rough, but with good supervision she does a nice job of gentling down and keeping her behavior in check. She settles down quickly once back inside the house, and likes to lay within a few feet from her foster dad.
Tari is a little unsure of new people, but her foster dad is working hard to socialize her on a regular basis. Something that will help win her over? Treats!
Tari MUST have a strong canine leader, preferably an experienced German Shepherd owner who has previously dealt with strong GSD behaviors. She needs lots of socialization, and someone who is committed to helping her becoming a well-balanced GSD!
Tari is improving daily in foster care, and we will update this information as we continue to learn more about her. Check back often for updates!

TARI's ADOPTION FEE: $300 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend
over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
