Josie (8.14) (Josie+Gypsy pair) needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?
About Josie (8.14) (Josie+Gypsy pair) | |

|
JOSIE is a stunning dog whose mom Gypsy was used to breed, then the pair were thrown out of a car together. A policeman saw it happening and rushed to save the two from certain death on the highway rather than pursue the car. Josie and Gypsy are both alive and well today because of the officer's quick action.
Josie and Gypsy do not absolutely have to be adopted together, but we would be ecstatic if it can happen! They clearly love each other and are each other's playmate and comfort. They could each bond with another dog or dogs, but if anyone is looking for a wonderful pair - and we do recommend having a doggie sibling whenever possible! - this is a pair that's already established and terrific together! Just think - no introductions, no adjustment period, no watching them like a hawk. They already know all about each other and love each other!
Josie has the sweetness and innocence of a youngster, and is a joy to be around. She likes to play and has come to understand she's safe, loved and has a great life in front of her. She adores her foster family, and likes to play (she mostly plays with her mom Gypsy, which is natural since they lived together). She's now kennel trained and house trained, and will learn commands very quickly - she's one smart cookie. After she was pulled from the shelter, she adapted almost instantly to her new surroundings, and immediately trusted her loving foster family (mom Gypsy took a few days).
Josie and Gypsy are both good with their foster doggie sibilings, including a 13 yr old male Yorkie, a 4 yr old male husky, and a 3 yr old male GSD. They sniffed and went on about their business, and now move freely among the pack.
Josie lives in a foster home with several young children and is doing great. Cats definitely will require some training, as she's fairly interested in them.
Overall, Josie is a super loving and very smart girl who's ready for a loving, committed family who will never abandon her again, no matter what happens. She's just a puppy in most ways, and has a lot to learn yet. But she loves to be with her people, will follow you around, and is good with most everyone. She seems to have listened well to what her mom Gypsy taught her!
Are YOU the fortunate family to have Josie's love (or Josie and Gypsy's)? Are YOU the family to share your lives with her (or them)? If so, hurry and put in your adoption application! The sooner the girls find their fairy-tale-happy-ending, the better we'll like it!
DOGS: YES!! MUST have at least one doggie play buddy (maybe mom Gypsy?)
CATS: Interested. Would chase if allowed. But appears trainable with leadership & patience. Being slowly intro'd to cats at foster home (see video)
KIDS: Yes. Lives in foster home with small kids
IDEAL FAMILY: An active, loving, patient family who will include her in all their activities, and teach her all the things a young German Shepherd needs to learn! MUST have at least one doggie buddy -- Josie would be devastated and lost alone. A securely fenced yard is required, 6 ft privacy fence strongly preferred.
If you're looking for a loving, sweet, innocent young German Shepherd
who wants to be part of a forever family and will love you forever,
JOSIE may be your ideal family member!
And if you're looking for a pair (to keep each other company),
JOSIE & GYPSY are your dream come true!!
JOSIE's ADOPTION FEE: $300
JOSIE & GYPSY ADOPTED TOGETHER: $500
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
