About Viktor (1.14) | |
|
|
VIKTOR is an ultra-adorable, goofy, fun-loving 5 month old pup who just wants to love you, love life, and play, play, play! He's super sweet, loving and has a gorgeous thick coat with some of the slightly curly fur on his back end that you sometimes see in a German Shepherd. Whoever adopts Viktor is going to one VERY fortunate family!
Viktor was surrendered by his owner, who bought him from a Florida breeder and allegedly paid $2,000 for him. After just a month or so, Viktor became "uncontrollable" and the owners sent him to an inhouse training school. There the trainers discovered that Viktor is simply a German Shepherd who was receiving no leadership - while the family loved him the best they knew how, they simply were not canine leaders and Viktor was running amok. The trainer shortly had Viktor on the right path and our little guy returned home - where the owners soon realized as he grew that they simply couldn't handle him. So he came to us, to find just the right forever home.
Viktor loves other dogs, and MUST have at least one doggie buddy (medium to large size) to play with and pal around with. Prior to going to the inhouse training he was acting aggressively to other dogs, but that's long past and he follows adults around like most puppies. He's eager for a playmate and companion! Cats are unknown, but we suspect he will be easily trained around cats.
Viktor lived with two teenagers and we haven't seen him around small children but believe he will do well with the supervision that any large dog needs around small children.
Viktor is crate trained and is working on house training. He's relatively calm for a puppy, and settles nicely in his crate when next to another dog. If separated from another dog, he will cry in his crate. He plays nicely and doesn't show any excessive roughness. He still mouths some but again is fairly gentle and corrects easily with "tsss, tsss" type of sound. He's smart and with a month of professional training is ahead of a lot of puppies. However, the training was not reinforced or followed once he returned to his owner's home, so his forever family will need to restart this training and continue it. He's smart and wants to please, and he will be easily trained.
Overall, Viktor is a sweetheart and a gem: loving, sweet, fairly calm and gentle for a puppy, loves people and dogs, and is a typical German Shepherd youngster. Only one very fortunate family will bring him into their home. Is that YOU?
DOGS: YES. MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE DOGGIE BUDDY (medium to large)
CATS: Unknown, would have to be tested. Believe he will be fine.
KIDS: Lived with older teenagers, has not been around small children. Believe he will be fine, but would have to be tested
IDEAL FAMILY: An active, loving family with at least one other medium to large dog, who will provide the consistent leadership and training this youngster needs to grow into the wonderful adult companion he can be. Securely fenced yard STRONGLY preferred!
If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable German Shepherd
who will love you forever,
VIKTOR may be your ideal family member!
VIKTOR's ADOPTION FEE: $350
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend
over $450
on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
