JOC is a big, goofy young man who seems to get along with everyone! He's a handsome soft-eared German Shepherd who LOVES life and wants badly to romp and play - with you, with other dogs, with anyone who will play with and love him. If you're looking for a big goofy boy who will be a loving buddy for life, you don't need to look any further than Joc!
Joc orignally belonged to a young man who no longer wanted him and dumped him on his parents. Sadly, the parents didn't want him either and were going to dump him in a shelter -- where he would have stood little chance of getting out alive since the shelters are all full and as a big, mostly black dog he would be harder to adopt out. Fortunately for Joc, a kennel owner agreed to take him in and and then contacted us for help. And we fell in love with him the minute we met him!
Due to lack of people willing to open their hearts and homes to foster, Joc is still in boarding and is eager, eager, eager to get out! He wants to stretch his legs and run, play, be loved on, sniff the ground and generally get on life. He's a young boy and needs to still learn a few things like leash manners, and probably a few other manners as well. We have not seen him in a home environment but only in the kennel, so we do not have a complete knowlege of his habits. He is housebroken but will likely need a refresher course after having been in boarding.
Joc is such a well-tempered dog and deserves a loving family for a change -- someone who will commit to loving him, keeping him and caring for him FOR LIFE. Not until it's no longer convenient. Not until there's a move. Not until circumstances change. Joc is on a search - he's looking for a family who will love him as much as he loves them - and will prove it with their actions.
DOGS: Yes, seems to like all dogs. Would need to introduce him to any resident dogs to make sure of compatibility
CATS: Yes, lived with two kittens
KIDS: Yes, has done very well when introduced to children at the boarding kennel
IDEAL FAMILY: A loving, committed family FOR LIFE! A family that's at least moderately active and will put the finishing touches on his general young-dog manners. A family who wants a big boy to cuddle with and keep him warm. He would probably enjoy a doggie buddy. A securely fenced yard is strongly preferred.
If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable German Shepherd
who will love you forever,
JOC may be your ideal family member!
JOC's ADOPTION FEE: $300 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend
over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
