Call From: Emergency vet clinic
Status: URGENT - would be euthanized in 10 minutes due to lack of money
Situation: Titus was attacked by a mastiff who was new to the home and his leg was severley fractured. The young owner didn't have the money to treat him, and had just enough to walk through the clinic door and euthanize him
TITUS is a stunning, classic black-and-tan young German Shepherd boy who may have just gotten his "big break" - literally! He had lived in his home for a year, and then suddenly his young owner brought home a mastiff. Both were male. Both were un-neutered. Both were young. And every time the mastiff saw Titus, he went ballistic.
That night the owner was out walking Titus when some friends who were frequently there brought the mastiff out for a walk without realizing Titus was out. Both dogs were on leash, but the mastiff pulled the leash out of handler's hands instantaneously and the mastiff attacked poor Titan. Titus' owner let go of Titus' leash and the two dogs fought it out. The mastiff was okay, but Titus wasn't. His leg was in terrible shape, virtually useless. And he was chewing on his injured leg with all his might - never a good sign.
The owner rushed him to an Emergency Vet Clinic, where they did a brief overview examination and believed he had serious fractures that might even warrant amputation. However, they were unable to continue treating because the young owner was unable to pay. Despite the late hour, staff at the emergency clinic called us in hopes we might be able to pull off yet another miracle.
And we did. We had the emergency clinic stabilize and splint Titus, so we can get him to our vet for assessment and treatment. And the owner paid what he could afford towards the vet bill. Still, we owe the emergency clinic $427 without ever having met Titus, and before getting him to our vet for asssessment and treatment.
So MOGS is now the proud rescuer of gorgeous Titus! For now we're obviously concentrating on his medical treatment, but here's what else we know about him.
STAY TUNED! MORE TO COME AS HIS STORY UFOLDS.
