***Special medical condition, Please see details below before applying***
EKO is a happy, sweet, loving young girl who adores every person and every dog she meets. She is happiest being right by her owners side and doesnt require much but a good tummy rub.
EKO previously lived with a wonderful family who loved her very much. She did great with the family's 1.5 year old child. Unfortunately the family can no longer care for EKO because of her skin condition (see below) so we are looking for a loving family who will take tremendous care of her and give her the forever home she greatly deserves.
EKO is doing fabulous in her foster home! She is living with a male and female german shepherd and adores them, all she wants to do is play. She plays loud and a little rough but she is completely submissive and gentle at heart. She does very well on a leash and would LOVE a running buddy!
EKO'S SKIN CONDITION: We believe she has a mixture of food and outdoor allergies. She's now on medication to relieve the itching and is on a grain free, natural rabbit-based diet which seems to help. The allergies are most likely caused by common ingredients in dog food (chicken, beef) and by outdoor factors such as pollen. She will need an owner who is willing to deal with the cost of the food and the medical treatment and who has the patience, time, and understanding to deal with her skin condition.
DOGS: yes, she would love a play buddy.
CATS: yes, appears to just want to play.
KIDS: yes, lived with a 1.5 year old child and did great.
IDEAL FAMILY: an active family with lots of love to give who will do whatever it takes to keep her happy and healthy.
Special Needs: Still determining what kind of allergies she has. On rabbit and salmon diet and it seems to help. Also treating with a mild dose of prednisone. Micki is giving her weekly baths with medicated shampoo. Will see if food, baths, and new environment help. Vet thinks it is seasonal allergies as previous owners said it got better in the winter (but she would still have breakouts). New owner will need to be able to handle with the cost and have the patience needed to deal with her skin issues. The food she is on is expensive and medication is (could be) very costly.
