JASMINE is an adorable, petite 10 month old doll!!!!  She's loving and sweet -- and above all she's grateful to be alive.  She came from a small town in southern Missouri where she was about to be killed by a pound that kills on a schedule -- even if they have open kennels and plenty of space.  She had no chance against that mentality.  So we're relieved and happy she's now safe and sound in our program and looking for her forever home where she'll never be at risk again!

Jamine is a gorgeous chestnut and black, and when she gains weight her coat will shine.  She's so sweet and sensitive that she's been stressed out by being in boarding for a month.  Due to a lack of people willing to open their hearts and homes to take a foster dog, Jasmine was in boarding much longer than we wanted.  But she just went to a wonderful foster home and will soon start thriving.  So now she's just looking for her own forever family who will be sure she's safe and loved for life!

We introduced Jasmine to Kari, another of our MoGS dogs at the same boarding kennel, and all she wanted to do was play!  (See videos below.)  Within minutes the two were rolling around and acting like they'd known each other a long time. Jasmine has the typical puppy energy and the over-exuberant bad habits of an untrained youngster -- she jumps right at the other dog in play, gets in the other dog's face, etc.  All she needs is good training and guidance to teach her how to be a little more polite when meeting dogs for the first time.  She has not been overly rowdy during play, so we don't think she's a hyper-active dog, just an energetic puppy.  She's absolutey adorable, sweet, loving and appears somewhat submissive to other dogs.

Jasmine has just gone into a foster home with two small boys (ages 11 & 7), several cats and an older dog.  she is doing well and appears to get along with everyone.  The only major group we haven't had the chance to test her with is small dogs, and we suspect she'll be fine.  Kari would LOVE to have a doggie brother or sister to play with!!!!  In addition, Kari is still an untrained youngster and loves to jump up on you in excitement.  She needs, and her adopters must provide, good leadership training to teach her good doggie manners.  It appears her prior owners taught her very little.  But she's smart and submissive, and wants to please - so training should be easy.  The main thing to watch is simply her size and energy level -  she's still a puppy, untrained, enthusiastic, and loves to jump on you.  She would easily knock over a small child during play and must be supervised while she's being trained.  (This is typical of any large young dog.)

Overall Jasmine is a truly a gem with a sweet dispostion. Only one lucky family will be fortunate enough to share their lives with her.  Will that be YOU?

DOGS:
Yes.  Small dogs have not yet been tested, but KARI is fine with larger dogs
CATS:
                   Appears to be ok
KIDS:
Is in a foster home with two young boys, ages 11 & 7
IDEAL FAMILY:
An active, loving home with another dog for company.  6 ft fence strongly preferred, kids a plus, frequent outings other than walking are required.  Obedience training also required.

If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable German Shepherd
who will love you forever,
JASMINE may be your ideal family member!

JASMINE's ADOPTION FEE:   $350
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save.  On average we spend over $450 on each dog.  We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then.  We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit.  At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip.  In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
