About Bruce | |
|
|
BRUCE is an adorable, loving, spunky youngster who's still just a puppy: puppy energy, puppy love, puppy sweetness! He's full of life and energy yet very responsive to correction and really wants to please his humans. Bruce is kind of like a ray of sunshine - he just plain LOVES life! Every day is a good one for him, and he fully expects to have fun, play, and love every single day. His foster family says "he just enjoys everything!" What a great way to be!
Bruce somehow ended up in a high kill city pound where he was to be killed for space on a Friday night. He and one other dog, a black shepherd mix, were the two chosen to die. We couldn't bear to watch these precious lives snuffed out, so we brought them both into our program. The girl was adopted by her foster mom, but Bruce is still patiently waiting for his forever home ;-) He spent 2 months in boarding due to a lack of people willing to foster and then went to a foster home where he did very well. He is now in a different foster home (due to the foster's schedule, no fault of Bruce's). In each home he adjusted quickly and cheerfully to the schedule, the other dogs, and the family. He's living with 3 German Shepherds and 2 small children, and is doing great. He's housebroken and wonderful with the kids. They love him for his fun, joyful, cheerful personality!
Bruce is fully vetted and just waiting for his very own forever family! He was a low heartworm positive, has been treated and is just fine.
Bruce is just such a loving, lively little boy who deserves an adoring forever family! He's "spunky" - he's got pizzazz and fire. He likes to play hard and somewhat rought, though he's gradually learning to be more gentle (a work in progress). He can be a little pushy with other dogs and get on the nerves of a dominant dog, so it's best that his doggie buddy not be a dominant or grumpy dog.
DOGS: yes. would LOVE a doggie buddy. Still young and needs to some additional training on appropriately gentle play
CATS: unknown. Would have to be tested
KIDS: yes
IDEAL HOME: an active family who will play and exercise with him daily! He'd love kids of his own to play with and love on.
If you're looking for an adorable boy
who's young, loving and full of life,
BRUCE may be your heart dog!
BRUCE's ADOPTION FEE: $250
This fee covers only part of what we spend on vetting and boarding the dogs we save, and has not changed in 7 years despite dramatic hikes in vet and boarding prices. Our average cost per dog is now over $450. At minimum your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery, bloodwork, X-rays, and treatment and medications for conditions such as thyroid, ear infections, eye problems, skin conditions and many others.
