More Information:
EVIE is a total sweetheart of a little girl, with a beautiful coat! She looks for all the world just like a small German Shepherd, but we suspect she's mixed with .... maybe spitz?? It doesn't matter, though -- there isn't a sweeter dog around! She's an absolute lover and will be a 50 lb. lap dog if you let her. She just adores people, loves life, and wants to investigate everything and everyone!
Evie is between 1-2 years old and acts like the puppy she still is: bouncy, inquisitive, energetic, and above all full of life, fun and love. She just has so much energy and so much sheer joy at being alive and safe! She was confiscated for cruelty, and was kept in a cage on a front porch most of the time. It was also reported that she was beaten with a pipe. We don't see any behavioral signs of frequent beatings, but she has such great energy and inquisitiveness that we can tell she was cooped up for long periods and not exposed to much of life. It's as if she's experiencing freedom for the first time!
Absolutely the only issue she seems to have is that she likes to dig under the fence to get out and go exploring. She doesn't really go anyplace when she does get out and usually comes round to the side. We're guessing this may be related to her early life confined to crate on a porch virtually 24/7, and hope that as she gets used to her newfound freedom and also grows beyond puppyhood, she'll grow out of that.
Evie is also INCREDIBLY smart. We're used to smart dogs but she's exceptional. Despite being just a puppy still, she seems to learn most things in just one or two takes! She is already sitting on command with just a look and a cocked eyebrow from her foster mom. We believe she will be very easy to train.
She also shows some signs of having a talent for scent work. She roots out potholders and other items her foster mom has made and carries them around. We are going to test her further by hiding some of these items and see what she does.
Whatever happened to her previously, she's now a dynamic, loving, energetic, grab-life-by-the-tail kind of girl! Only one lucky family will get to share life with this sweet, precious girl for many years to come!
If you're looking for a darling, sweet, active medium sized dog
who loves life and will love you madly,
EVIE's your girl!
OTHER DOGS: yes, all sizes. LOVES loves to play with other dogs!
CATS: yes, ignores the cat in her foster home
KIDS: yes (would have to be tested but don't anticipate any problems)
IDEAL HOME: an active family home with lots of action and lots of lovin'!!!! She'd love a doggie buddy to play with. MUST have a securely fenced yard to romp in.
EVIE'S ADOPTION FEE: $250
This fee covers only part of what we spend on vet bills and boarding for the dogs we save. At minimum it includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, and microchip.
