About Bea | |
|
Little Ms. BEA is an utterly adorable, sweet, high German Shepherd mix. When you meet her for the first time, you just sort of lose your heart to her! She's full of energy and general joy with life! She's one of those youngsters who just make you grin with her sheer enthusiasm.
Bea is definitely still all puppy: playing and running around is her thing! She would LOVE a doggie buddy to romp and play with, and they will entertain each other endlessly. She's a sweetheart who LOVES being loved on and just being with her humans. Yet she is crate trained and accepts being kenneled very calmly for a youngster. She can and will settle down fairly quickly when given daily exercise and stimulation.
Due to a lack of people willing to foster, Bea has unfortunately spent 3 months in boarding - and she's getting so frustrated! She only gets a short time out with her buddy dog pals every day, and it just isn't enough for a young, energetic girl like her. She's not submissive, yet she's not dominant either. We did have her in a home over one weekend, and she adored it! She kenneled up beautifully and adored playing in the yard with the other dogs. Unfortunately it was just temporary and we hated putting her back in boarding.
Bea is just adorable in her delight for life. When she went to the temporary weekend foster home, the first night she and another dog just ran and played for an hour. When it was time to come in, the other dog came right away but little ms. Bea just wanted to stay out and enjoy the freedom and the evening. She looked at her weekend human, smiled and got the "zoomies" - she went tearing around the large yard at full speed and circled and circled. She finally came to a screeching halt right in front of her human and looked up, clearly saying "Gosh that was fun! Let's do it again!!!!!" - and took off to do it all over again. Her temporary foster broke out in giggles just watching her.
We did discover she'll need a slight refresher in housetraining, as she's now used to the boarding kennel. But she's so smart - she learned the routine in the temporary weekend foster house in the first day! So she will be easy to refresh and finish potty training with. She still has the habit of barking at strange dogs, but again she's so smart that with a normal routine of daily exercise and a normal family environment, combined with proper training, this will quickly be corrected.
Bea is a little lover and loves to cuddle. She's on the small-ish side at about 50 lbs, but is still a puppy and should fill out some. She's a lithe, limber, compact and elegant looking mid-sized dog. She’s a great size for almost any home.
She was a stray in a high kill city pound, where she was constantly overlooked due to Black Dog Syndrome. Black dogs and cats typically have a much harder time getting adopted, and the larger they are the harder it is. People passed Bea by without even glancing at her. If they'd just met her in the playyard, they would have fallen in love with her sheet joy for life and delightful play.
Kennel staff adore ms. Bea and you will, too!
DOGS: yes. Just wants to play
CATS: unknown. Would have to be tested but suspect she would like to chase and would have to be trained not to
KIDS: she did well with small children at a 3-day Home Show adoption event. Like any 50 lb dog who is young and rambunctious, she will need supervision around very small children to avoid having her knock over a child while playing
IDEAL HOME: an active, loving home that will take the time to play with her, love her with all their hearts, and train her as she growns up
If you're looking for a young lady
who’s gorgeous, sweet and loves life,
BEA is for you!
