About Tegan | |
|
|
TEGAN is a returning MOGS Alumni, and rejoins us after the divorce of her owners.
TEMPERAMENT
Tegan is a well-behaved, even-tempered bundle of energy and fun. She loves to play outside, and is a major fan of playing in water. One of her favorite games is fetch, and she is very good at bringing balls and toys back and dropping them at your feet. She is also super smart, and already knows basic obedience commands of: come, sit, shake, lay, wait and heel – and she is so good that she does it the first time! She is house trained and crate trained.
Tegan does well on a leash when she is able to wear her preferred harness with a front chest clasp. When she is on a regular collar she likes to pull, but when off leash in her person’s yard, she has perfect recall. She does have quite a high energy level, and requires daily exercise. She also has some mild herding behaviors, which will need to be initially monitored in her new forever home. She does not show much interest in toys or bones, but loves to go for car rides.
Tegan’s new family will need to carefully monitor her eating patterns. She is very food driven, and will eat until she gets sick if allowed. Because of this, she requires portion-controlled feedings in a slow-feed bowl. She also requires regular grooming, in order to keep her beautiful long coat in good shape. She does not like having her feet messed with.
OTHER ANIMALS
Tegan gets along with other dogs of all sizes, and really needs to have a canine buddy in her new home, to play with and burn off her high energy. Her behavior with cats is unknown.
CHILDREN
Tegan loves, loves, loves kids of all ages, and is very attuned to their emotions. She does sometimes jump and get excited around new people, so children will need to be monitored to prevent being knocked over during initial introductions.
MEDICAL
Tegan has no known medical issues at this time. She is, however, on a very structured feeding schedule to help her lose some excess weight.
