More Information:

JETT is a typical untrained 11 month old German Shepherd!  He's on the small side (65 lbs) and is a classic black-and-tan GSD.   We are told that his dad was a GSD and mom was a Red Heeler -- the result of an "accidental breeding" by a backyard breeder. Jett looks almost purebred German Shepherd in all respects, so dad's genes clearly won out.

Jett belonged to a young woman who relied on a roommate to help her care for the dog, and when that arrangement broke up she was no longer able to care for Jett.  He came to us very sweet, full of puppy energy, and unvetted.  He is now vetted and in a wonderful foster home where he will start learning manners.

Jett's only issue is that he was not trained, so he will need a family who is willing to continue the training started by his terrific foster parents.  He is smart as a whip and learns quickly.  He already knows sit, down and shake.

Jett is very high energy and LOVES to play fetch!   He needs an active family where he will get regular daily exercise (he didn't have this before), and where he will get daily play time to stimulate him mentally.  He's a love of a boy, just a youngster who never got much training or attention. He does well on trips to Petco, Home Depot and the like, and seems to enjoy them very much.

KIDS:  Although the foster home does not have young children, Jett seems to enjoy the kids who pet him on his trips out and about.

OTHER DOGS:  Not totally known at this time.  We are in the process of introducing him to several other dogs.  We believe he will do well but will need proper introductions and will also need to learn appropriate play (he's still in that crazy in-your-face puppy play mode).

Are you looking for a great youngster
with tons of personality and energy?
Are you willing to train?
JETT'S YOUR BOY!

JETT's ADOPTION FEE:  $250
This fee covers only part of our vet and boarding expenses for the dogs we save.  It includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming and microchip at minimum.

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
