Dillon (11-2011) needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
About Dillon (11-2011) | |
|
|
DILLON is a sweet, energetic, silly, pup-ster! He's what is called a soft-eared, or floppy-eared, German Shepherd and is likely a high mix. He's a gorgeous bi-color boy with one heck of a sweet personality to match.
He was in a high kill city pound where he was absolutely terrified... but he's come around nicely. He's still shy of some people, especially men and small kids. It's clear that a man and probably small children at some point beat him. But he's gotten much better on all those fronts as well, and all he needs is time, patience and love to continue getting past it. He's doing extremely well and fast becoming the goofy pup-ster he really is.
And Dillon is still definitely a youngster - he loves to play, be loved on, and do all the things that youngsters love to do! He hasn't had an accident since the first day or two, though like many abused dogs he will occasionally piddle some when excited. The first day in the foster home he literally belly-crawled to his foster mom ... and it broke her heart. He hadn't known love til now! But he's gotten used to it and is lapping it up -- he's a love bug and a "velcro dog!"
Dillon, is a wonderful youngster who just needs time, patience and love as he finishes his journey past the cruelty and abuse he knew as a tiny puppy. Although shy, he is a true German Shepherd - he's protective of his home, has a great bark, and like a typical youngster tries to "strut his stuff" if allowed to get away with it! He requires all the training and leadership that all German Shepherds require. He loves car rides and outings, though he'll stick close to you to make sure you're not going to leave him somewhere!
Dillon may refuse to go to certain men because they remind him of whoever was cruel to him, but he's getting MUCH better about that.
Dillon will be a lap dog if you let him: he's a true cuddlebug and can't get enough lovin'! He does very well with the other dogs in his foster home (2 GSDs and a Lab). He is playful and has a strong ball drive. Dillon needs a home with older children only - 13 and up.
DOGS: yes. Just wants to play
CATS: unknown. Would have to be tested

IDEAL HOME: an active home with at least one other dog and a family who will continue to socialize him and show him the world outside his home! Dilley is a cuddlebug who's in the final stages of forgetting his abusive past!

and will give him the training, leadership, love & patience he needs,
DILLEY will reward you with lifetime of love, fun & loyalty!
