More Information:
CADENCE is a mystery girl! She arrived as a stray at high kill city shelter - yet she was a healthy weight, had a nice coat, and did not appear to be either neglected or abused. Yet she was not microchipped, had no ID on, and no one ever came looking for her.
That may be why Cadence was so uncertain! If she came from a loving home, she would certainly be confused at suddenly ending up in a noisy, crowded pound. Cadence is in a great foster home with another GSD, and they are slowly being introduced to each other. Cadence appears to be uncertain about the other dog when the other dog gets up close and personal, and will let out a small warning growl. However, she also clearly wants to play!! The signs we see indicate that Cadence was probably never allowed to be near or play with other dogs much, and so didn't learn good social skills. She has already made good progress in her foster home and will learn with just a little guidance and patience from her new family. Slow, proper introductions to other dogs are recommended while Cadence learns proper doggie social skills, and that other dogs are not a threat to her. Cats are unknown and would have to be tested.
Cadence is small for a GSD (approx. 50 lbs) and the perfect size for someone needing a smaller GSD. At approx. 4 yrs old she's past the chewing stage and the bouncing-off-the-walls stage (nice!) and would make a good companion for either an active home or a quieter house. She is being treated for a bad ear infection she obviously had for some time. It was so bad that the vet who spayed her noted she literally "tilted" her head and body, and thought it could be neurological problems. It's not, she's fine, and her ear is getting better every day (she doesn't "tilt" anymore!)
Bottom line: Cadence adores all people and is an absolute lovebug! She is in foster care with two children, one around 6 and the other a young teen. She just wants to love and be loved on.
Are you looking for a smaller GSD who's past the puppy stage
yet full of life and years of great companionship?
