More Information:

DORI (aka "Zoey") is as sweet a girl as you'll ever meet!  WOW!  Beautiful, sweet, adorable, and just FULL of life and energy!!!

Dori and her brother Nemo were at a high kill city pound because their backyard breeder was over his limit of dogs.   We got them out as fast as we could before they got sick!  MOGS is so glad to help these darling puppies find their forever loving homes.

Dori and her brother Nemo are very bonded to one another, but we have had to separate them into two different foster homes and are both adjusting quite well because they have other doggie siblings to play with.  We hope that Dori finds a home with at least one other doggie buddy!!!!

Dori is in great shape, completely vetted, and ready to go a wonderful home.

Dori is super sweet.  She is in foster care with other dogs and small children, and does great with everyone.  She lets a 4 yr old get right up in her face!  She is a cuddler and will sleep in bed if you let her (we don't recommend it during the first 1-2 years, which are training years).   She's crate trained, well on her way to being potty trained, and will be easily trained in all other areas as well.  The ideal home will have at least one other dog for her to play with!  She will make an outstanding family pet.

Temporary Foster Home:  they said it took her just 3 hours to feel at home with their other GSDs.  "After picking Dori up from transport she insisted on co-piloting the car but gave up quickly and slept the entire way home.  She's been here all of 3 hours now and is doing just fine!  ... Intro's to her foster brother GSDs went off without a hitch - she is submissive and low key.  She even did well at a MOGS event just a day after her transport up to her temporary foster home - and met her long term foster family there!  Dori slept through most of the event!  She found herself several napping spots and collected sticks and twigs when she wasn't sleeping.  I crated her with her very own toy and a peanut butter-filled Kong. She ate her p.b. and took a nice long nap :)

Long Term Foster Home:  they love her!  "Dori will most definitely make a phenomenal family pet.  She is wondeful with our 4-year-old who is constantly in her face loving on her. She has definitely come out of her shell since coming to our home. She gets along great with our dogs and is a little shadow to our gs Kane, she mimicks whatever Kane does.  She knows how to sit and we are working on jumping up. She is finished with her antibiotics and is gaining weight so her ribs aren't as noticeable.  She is such a cuddler as well and is becoming a lap dog. She would sleep with us if we let her : ) She does great at nite in the kennel, not a peep until morning and she is doing great with her potty training. I really hope she finds a wonderful loving home because she is amazing!"

DORI'S ADOPTION FEE:   $350
This fee covers a portion of the vet and boarding expenses for the dogs we save.  It includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies, distemper/parvo and bordatella vaccinations, deworming and microchip.

More about Dori

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
