More Information:

TAY (aka Taylor) is a gorgeous dark sable German Shepherd who is loving, adorable, playful and a typical GSD youngster.  She loves to love and be loved on once she  knows you!!  She is shy of strangers at first, and does not like unknown people to be unaccompanied in her house or yard.  (She once nipped a neighbor who walked right into her house and started yelling.  It turned out the neighbor was yelling for her kids, who were visiting in Tay's house.  But all Taylor knew was that a strange person had walked right in and was screaming, and she reacted like a typically protective German Shepherd.)

Tay lived with cats, is great with other dogs, and is excellent with kids (grew up with small children from a puppy).  She likes to chase horses, but really just in play.  She is housebroken, crate trained and can have run of the house (though we always recommend crating a new dogs when no one is home, until they're fully acclimated to the new house, family and schedule).  Tay is also used to having an electronic fence, and for the most part she abided by that (she did get out once in a while).

In short, Tay is a typical German Shepherd:  a great family dog and an excellent protector.

Tay came to MOGS under sad circumstances.  The owner's husband was killed in a tragic motorcycle accident and the owner works long hours in the medical field.   The tragedy of the circumstances was overwhelming and the owner felt unable to continue caring properly for Tay (and her sister Rose).  She lovingly wanted the girls to go to good homes where someone would be able to care for them and spend at least some time with them.

So Tay is now looking for her new and final family, where she can settle in and be a loved family member for the rest of her life!!

Tay needs a home with another dog for companionship and play.

If you're looking for a gorgeous girl to be your family's companion and protector, TAY is your girl!

Tay’s adoption fee is $300.00.

This fee covers a portion of the vet and boarding expenses for the dogs we save.  It includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies, distemper/parvo and bordatella vaccinations, deworming and microchip.

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
