About Greta | |
|
Greta is a beautiful dog that came to us several months ago. She was used as a breeding machine and then dumped.
Greta is doing SO well at her foster home! She lives with small, medium and large dogs. She gets along fine with most of them, but she does NOT like big hyperactive dogs who get in her face and will definitely let them know it!!!! She gets along fine with cats.
Greta was extremely shy and uncertain when she first arrived at her foster home. But she has truly blossomed and is enjoying life! She has gained weight and no longer looks like a starvation case. She's a love who is still learning to accept human kindness. Here's what the foster home says as of 11-2-10:
Greta gets along great with kids, including very small kids. However, we recommend no small children. Greta loves the kids but does NOT like anyone hanging on her or approaching her from above. She gets nervous -- we believe she was abused by someone who came at her from above -- and seems to need her space. The foster home is careful when bathing her or trimming her nails to approach her from the side ONLY. So we recommend older children only for ms. Greta.

GRETA is at a healthy weight now! She has made huge progress since being with us for about 7 weeks now. She is house trained and kennel trained. She really likes her kennel... think it's a feel safe and secure" thing. I leave the door to her kennel open when I'm on the computer and she just lays contentedly in her kennel. She's playful now and likes to chase our cats although it is all meant for fun. She likes to run around the yard. Not interested in toys at all.
She gets along great with our small dogs, large dog and cats, but does NOT like the male German Shepherds. Greta is nervous while at the same time really likes being with people and getting loved on. She paces in circles but with some reassurance settles down and becomes calm. Greta walks pretty good on lead and enjoys taking walks. She will make someone a great, loyal pet.

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since GRETA arrived in our home. She has made remarkable progress!!! She was VERY submissive, hanging her head and really didn’t wag her tail or care if she had human touch. She didn’t eat at all at first but is now gaining weight. We gave her a bath, brushed her and cleaned out her icky ears. She weighs a whopping 53 pounds. She gets along with our Italian Greyhounds, cats and large Greyhounds. Her personality is coming out and she will make someone a wonderful pet as long as they give her time to warm up to them and her surroundings. She has not had one accident and kennels well.
