Location: Columbia, MO Age: approx. 1 yr Temperament: sweet, energetic youngster
MARTY is a handsome, energetic and very sweet young man. Found roaming with his sister Marie (who looks just like him), the pair killed a few chickens to ward off starvation. Fortunately, the chicken owners were compassionate people and caught the dogs and saved them (not often the case).
MARTY is a lovely sable German Shepherd with a friendly and loving personality. He and his sister Marie play, play, play. Despite having been abandoned and left to starve, they love human and just about everything else.
MARTY is a typical youngster - full of love and joy and energy. He loves people and gets along with other dogs fine. Cats are unknown but we suspect he could be trained. MARTY will make a wonderful, loving family pet and would LOVE to have a doggie buddy to play with!
MARTY's ADOPTION FEE: $300. This fee covers only a portion of the vet and boarding expenses for the dogs we save. It includes spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if necessary, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming and microchip.
TO APPLY: go to "FORMS" on the left menu and submit an "Adoption Applicaion."

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids
Special Needs: was caught killing chickens twice. Would have to be cat tested. Impression is that he's such a nice dog he was only hungry and could probably be trained to be ok with cats.
STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!
We're picky about our adopters.
Are you sure you're up to having a GSD? They're not for everyone. They take a lot of time, effort, training. They shed year round. They're big. They scare lots of people. They "mouth" and herd. They're usually strong-willed and stubborn. You have to have references and a home visit. If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
Will the dog be an inside family pet?We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home? We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone. You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone. A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car. Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into. Gates are opened. Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
