MIRA was owner surrendered with the help of a partner rescue, after she was found several times running free in the streets of her neighborhood. She is settling into her MOGS foster home well and her days of being neglected are over.

TEMPERAMENT/BEHAVIOR

Mira has settled in to her foster home and they report she has a sweet personality and is getting along well with her 3 foster sibling GSDs. She is a leaner and snuggler when she is getting scratches. She loves attention. She is eager to please. She is curious about everything. She loves to play with bugs in the yard.  She loves her foster dad’s slippers and will steal them if they are left unattended. She loves to chew on her foster siblings – she thinks these interactive play toys are fun! She loves lounging in the yard. Yard sticks are fun to play with and delicious. She loves to run around with them, keeping them away from her foster siblings, then lies in the yard and chews on them. She loves to pay with with balls and Nylabone toys. Mira is a typical puppy, so she is trying to chew all the things slippers, shoes, fingers, but she is working hard on learning the right things to chew on. She does not show any signs of food or toy aggression.

TRAINING

Mira kennels well, most of the time she goes in her kennel when given the Kennel command. She doesn’t try to break out of the kennel, she sleeps all night in the kennel with no issues. She will whine to let you know when she needs to go outside to potty. She is currently working on basic manners and commands. She has learned sit and the kennel command so far. She is working on taking treats from your hand easy – sometimes gets a bit snappy. She is walking well on a leash and has shown no tendencies of fence jumping. Her foster family is working on her housebreaking as well, she is making progress!

PEOPLE

Mira is friendly with all the adults she has met so far. She loves attention. She has not met any small children so far.

OTHER ANIMALS

Mira does really well with her 3 GSD foster siblings. Two of them are high-energy level and she does fine keeping up with them. She has shown no aggression towards other dogs when out on a lead/leash. She has not been cat-tested at this time.

MEDICAL

No known medical issues.

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
