About Maple | |
|
Maple and Bella are litter mates. They were found as strays in rural Missouri with another male puppy. They have gone unclaimed during their stray hold so we don’t know what their life was like before they came to MOGS.
TEMPERAMENT / BEHAVIOR
They are currently both together in a foster home with 3 adult German Shepherds. They are typical curious and playful pups, who like to test boundaries. They are both very sweet and will capture your heart when they cuddle up to you. As with any puppy, they need constant and vigilant supervision as they are learning proper behaviors so they can be the best pups they can be. They are both very smart and learn quick as long as they are supervised and corrected when needed. Puppies want and need their people to teach and guide them!
TRAINING
They are both such smart girls! They learn so quickly, and are doing excellent at potty training and learning manners. They are currently working on potty training, not jumping on people, sitting to be let out of their kennels, sitting for food, and walking on a leash. They do great in their kennel! They go right in, and will sleep quietly all night for 8 hours with no accidents. They even go in their kennels on their own when they get tired of all the playing. They are currently kenneled separately next to each other and one of their foster sisters.
OTHER ANIMALS
Bella and Maple play hard together like typical pups. They occasionally get a little too rough but break up quickly when they are addressed. They have 3 older GSD foster sisters who they do fine with. The pups prefer to play with each other and their toys and don’t bother the older dogs very often. They are very curious about them and will try to “cuddle” with them at times. When the larger dogs bark and play, the pups can get a little nervous and scared, as if they can’t figure them out. They have briefly been around a cat and were interested but not aggressive.
PEOPLE
Both girls bonded to their foster parents quickly but are nervous meeting new people. They really want to meet them but are just a little scared! When new people visit, as long as they sit, let the girls come to them and have treats ready, the pups are letting the new person pet them in a few minutes. Their new families will need to keep socializing them so they continue to learn that people are ok. So far, they have met male and female adults and children. They don't seem to shy away from anyone in particular.
