About Noxx | |
|
|
KNOX is an XL, long-hair German Shepherd with a gorgeous chestnut and black coat. He’s absolutely breathtaking and will turn heads when you walk down the street with him!
PERSONALITY
Knox seems to be a gentle giant -- he has a wonderful temperament and appears to be one of those almost-perfect dogs. He’s pretty calm and gets along with everyone – people, dogs, (we haven’t seen him around farm animals). He’s loving and takes things in stride, adapting to whatever is going on. He rides well in the car and takes treats gently. We also think he may have been largely an outdoor dog – his beautiful coat was a matted, filthy mess and he seems to like being outside. For that reason we require a fenced in yard in his new home.
HOUSE MANNERS
Due to lack of qualified foster homes, he’s been in boarding since we pulled him from the shelter so we don’t know much about his house manners. He does keep a clean kennel in boarding so we suspect he is house trained. He also does well in his kennel and should do fine in a kennel at home.
PEOPLE
He’s been great with everyone he’s met to date and was a favorite of the shelter staff. KIDS: we haven’t seen him around children and that would have to be tested. Based on the information we have so far, we believe the only issue will be the one common to all large, strong dogs who need training: the possibility of knocking a child over in play or running near them. This requires supervision and training.
OTHER ANIMALS
He seems to like all other dogs. He was tested with another GSD and did fine. In boarding, he’s actually out in the small dog playgroup and is perfect with the little dogs. NOTE: because he’s in boarding due to lack of available foser homes, we have not had the chance to observe him in a home. We strongly recommend careful integration with other pets regarding food, treats and toys, which are the typical causes of disputes. CATS: Noxx tested unsafe with cats
ENERGY LEVEL
Moderate. He loves walks and likes being outside, but doesn’t seem to need high activity/exercise.
PREY DRIVE
He’s in boarding and this is hard to assess, but seems fairly low. On walks he redirects easily.
TRAINING
He seems to have some basics such as sit, etc. He pulls a little on walks - not badly – and could use more training But since he’s in boarding, we’re not totally sure of what manners he still needs.
HEALTH
Neutered, up to date on shots, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on monthly preventives. He is approx 10-15 lbs overweight, so his food intake is being strictly monitored, to promote weight loss. No known health conditions.
OVERALL
Only one VERY lucky family is going to have the privilege of adding Knox to your family! Only one lucky family will wake up every day and be surrounded by his gentle, calm love! Is that YOU? You can win the German Shepherd jackpot!
REQUIREMENTS TO ADOPT
Knox must have a fenced in yard because he loves being outside. He’ll be fine with another dog buddy, but can also be an only pet.
