KIMBER is a heart-meltingly adorable little girl who had a horrific start in life. But she's now on the mend, feeling great, and will soon be ready for a forever home!
BACKGROUND
Toby and his sister Kimber, along with a third puppy, were rescued from a horrible backyard breeder by a loving couple who couldn’t stand to leave the puppies there. They were appalled at the filthy, trashy trailer home and area, and it broke their hearts. The pups were only about 12 weeks old and the backyard breeder claimed his daughter had “found them down by the creek”. The couple knew he was lying, because the pups ran to their GSD mother for protection from the man. And that was when they quit cowering away from him under a vehicle.
So the couple bought all 3 puppies and took them home. But the pups had mange, originally diagnosed as the infectious type (sarcoptic) but later found to be demodex (non-infectious). The couple already had 3 dogs of their own and were overwhelmed, so they called a tiny rescue they knew of. The rescue helped as much as they could, but didn’t have fosters or room to take the pups in. They asked for help and we responded.
Toby and Kimber came to us, while the third pup stayed with the finders. We took the two siblings directly to our vet and found they had parvo! We immediately arranged to get them into a special parvo program at our local shelter, where they were in the best of hands and pulled through. Toby and his sister are now together in a wonderful foster home with other GSDs, kids, and lots of love.
TEMPERAMENT
We’ll have more information on Toby's personality as he settles into her foster home and finishes healing. Right now, all we know is that he’s super sweet and incredibly grateful to have loving hands caring for him.
OTHER DOGS
Fine with other dogs so far. CATS: unknown as yet
