NOTE: PRINCESS IS CURRENTLY IN BOARDING
DUE TO LACK OF QUALIFIED FOSTER HOMES,
and sooooo needs to be out of the boarding kennel.
She needs a foster or adopter as quickly as possible!
PRINCESS is a stunning, classically beautiful 7 year old black-and-tan German Shepherd who gets along with both people and other dogs! She's going to be someone's dream dog -- is that YOU?
BACKGROUNDStray at a local shelter. She was already microchipped and the shelter tried to contact the owner but never heard back from them. We suspect she may have been turned out by a family if the owner became incapacitated and had to leave the home. But we will never know for sure.
TEMPERAMENTShe's in boarding so we've only seen her in a shelter/kennel setting. But she's been very friendly to all staff and volunteers, and did well in her dog test with both a male and female dog. Prefers certain selective k9 company over others. In boarding she bonded and cared for a little blind German shepherd for a while. Now she is good friends with a really rough energetic male gsd She appears to be a lovely, well-tempered, mature girl who will be a fairly easy dog.
Princess has been working on some of her basic commands including 'sit', 'down', and 'come'. With her sweet disposition, she is learning quickly and is always leaning in for love.
As with all princesses, this one has a very soft touch and a soft mouth.
She loves a big yard to romp in. She loves water taking a dip-even if it comes in the form of a mud puddle! Truly a jewel. PEOPLEHas been friendly to everyone at both the shelter and the boarding kennel. She didn't have any negative reactions to being handled at the shelter, including during vetting. Kids are unknown and would have to be tested.
OTHER ANIMALSShe's new to our program and what we know right now indicates that she's friendly to other dogs. She was tested at the shelter, first with a male dog, then with a female dog, then with both the male and female dogs. Introductions went well and Princess showed no signs of aggression. When both the tester dogs were with her, she started playing vocally with both of them (the first stages of physical play). SMALL DOGS: unkown and would have to tested. CATS: unknown and would have to be tested..
ENERGY LEVELMedium. She's just come into our program and we'll know more about this after she settles in.
TRAININGUnkown. We will discover more about her commands, etc. as our volunteers have the chance to go to the boarding kennel and work with her.
HEALTHHealthy, spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped, and heartworm negative. She's ready to rock 'n roll in a new home with a furever family!
SUMMARYPrincess is an absolutely beautiful, classic-looking GSD and seems to have a well-balanced, loving, and friendly temperament. She is still very new to our program and we'll have more info as we get to know her.
If you're looking for a gorgeous, mature German Shepherd
to love and be adored by,
PRINCESS may be your heart dog!
PRINCESS's ADOPTION FEE: $350
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
