GREGORY ***SPECIAL CASE***
ADOPT ME!

Location: KC, MO
Age: approx. 5-6 years old
Temperament: Very nice, good with people, but food aggressive

09/10/2010:  Gregory was in boarding for a VERY long time (10 months).  He is now in a wonderful foster home with other dogs and plenty of attention and loving every second of it.  GREGORY has decided that he is their official office-watcher-over and general office assistant (hasn't leaned how to type yet though).
Gregory still needs that special "Forever Home".  Please consider making him yours.

07-04-2010: Gregory has not been in a foster home for quite some time.  His time in boarding is not helping with correcting his food aggression issues, but instead is amplifying them.  Please consider fostering Gregory today.

Dear Gregory (also known as Atticus) has not had an easy life, and unfortunately ended up in a local high kill shelter where he was nearly euthanized. He is now safe with an experienced foster. We have brought his vetting up-to-date, but since he tested positive for heartworm disease, we will be treating him for that when he is healthy enough to withstand the injections.

Gregory is quite skinny, and having been a starved dog, has a problem with food aggression. With time and proper training we feel this issue can be managed.

Gregory is also an escape artist and has broken out of convential crates, so we have his foster crating him in a special kennel.

Despite these problems, Gregory is a super sweet guy with people and wants to be with them at all times. We don't yet know about cats, and would likely not recommend he go to a home with very small children due to his food aggression.

Gregory is a pretty, reddish-tan colored boy as we think he is a German Shepherd/Malinois mix. His graying muzzle makes him appear distinguished. He has a nick out of one ear and the other one is bent giving him character! If you would like to let Gregory come be a character at your house, please email us! This nice, calm, older guy deserves his second chance in a society that has thus far not been kind to him!!

Gregory's adoption fee is $200

Is Not Good with Dogs

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
