BREE is an adorable youngster you'll fall in love with at first meeting -- are YOU the luck one who will get to add her to your family?

BACKGROUND
Bree was a stray in the 'hood and ended up at a local shelter.  She was very skinny at just 48 lbs, with every rib showing.  Whoever had her and didn't bother to come looking for her is a fool ;-0  She's super sweet, beautiful, loving, and funny.

TEMPERAMENT
Super sweet and a happy girl!  Makes you grin just approaching her -- her innocent enthusiasm is infectious.  She's less than a year old and a typical GSD puppy -- energetic, loving, wanting to enjoy life, be with you, and play.  She's been in boarding temporarily due to lack of available fosters, but is in the process of going to a foster home.  We'll have more information shortly.

PEOPLE
Bree seems to love everyone she meets -- male, female, younger, older.  We haven't seen any aggression from her either at the shelter, while she was in boarding, or now that she's in a foster home.  KIDS:  we haven't seen her around kids yet but she is going into a foster home with older kids shortly.

OTHER DOGS
Bree really seems to like being around other dogs and wants to play, but for now she's stil confused about what's happened to her and needs slow introductions at first.  We'll have more insight into this after she gets into her foster home with a playful foster GSD sister.

HOUSE MANNERS
She's been in boarding and is just now going into a wonderful foster home, so we'll know more about her specific house manners shortly.  While in boarding, Bree did great -- she kept a clean kennel, was pretty well mannered for a puppy, and get wild.  Like any very young GSD (or any very young dog for that matter) she undoubtedly needs to learn basics, such as not jumping, gentling down in the house, etc.

TRAINING
She appears to be very smart and wants to look to you for direction.  She has shown some tendency to go to your left side on a walk and heel, but that could also be coincidence.  She settles down nicely on a walk after a short while and when other dogs are with her on a walk she wants to mee them and try to play.  She clearly is still a puppy -- and needs consistent rules/boundaries and good leadership.  We think she'll pick up on training very quickly and just need normal puppy reminders and reinforcement while she matures.  She can sit though staying that way for very long is hard for her -- again, a typical puppy.

OVERALL
A beautiful and sweet youngster who loves life and people, and is going to make one very lucky family an absolutey wonderful companion and friend!  She's very sweet, loving, affectionate, and seems very trainable.  Despite being so young and energetic, she isn't a wild child, just a typical young GSD.  If her new family has no other dogs, they will need to have a plan to socialize her with other dogs frequently and regularly (neighbor play buddies, regular day care, etc - NOT dog parks).

If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, playful,
trainable German Shepherd
who will love you forever,
BREE may be your new BFF!

BREE'S ADOPTION FEE:   $350
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
