FOSTER ME OR ADOPT ME!

Meet Tess!
Location: KC, MO
Age: approx 3 years
Temperament: Super sweet...a real lover

Tess is a gorgeous young girl (just 3 yrs old) whose owners made her stay outdoors 24/7.  She of course got bored and jumped their 4 ft fence looking for people to love on.  Her owners got mad and dumped her in a high kill shelter to die without so much as a backward glance.  We often wonder why anyone gets a dog to throw it in the backyard 24/7 like a piece of firewood.  We know we don't want that for Tess.  We know that she needs to be part of a family and with her family as an indoor dog for the rest of her life!

Tess is a lover and, as one volunteer said, "sweet as sweet can be."  She wrapped a volunteer in a big doggie hug, with her paws around the volunteer, as if to say please please take me home and love me I'm wonderful.  She lived with other dogs, cats and kids and is good with all of them.  She went to a recent Petsmart adoption event and nothing bothered her:  she let the chaos of a Saturday afternoon at Petsmart wash right over her.  Other dogs, kids, people, lots of noise - she took it all in stride.  It seemed all she wanted was to know she'll be okay and find a forever family who won't dump her in a backyard or in a pound.

Since Tess was an outdoor dog she'll likely need some potty training, but she is crate trained and goes into her crate well and is one smart cookie.  She'll learn quickly.  She's fully vetted and ready to go home when you are.

Tess's adoption fee is $300. For an explanation of our fees and policies, please visit us at www.mogsrescue.petfinder.com.

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
