*URGENT* IMMEDIATE FOSTER NEEDED!!!

Temperament: Very nice, likes people, rides well in a car, good with other dogs thus far

Update: 6/14/2009:

One of our wonderful MOGS volunteers took time out of her day this afternoon and picked Jethro up and took him to temporary accomodations. Here's her report:

 "Jethro was good as gold when I went to pick him up. He walked right along beside me on the leash and loaded right up into the car. He has a lovely singing voice as I found out waiting at a stoplight and a fire truck went by with the sirens on. I personally have never minded that because I never have to worry about sleeping thru a tornado siren/emergency! :))) He is not yet fixed. I think he's probably between 1 - 2 years old but it's really hard to tell for certain - might want a vet to make a better guestimate. He weighs 70 lbs and is about 20 inches at the shoulder, really not very big. He looks like he has that sloping in his hind quarters that show type people really like. He is a big ole sweetie and really loves people. I have no idea about dog aggressiveness but he hadn't eaten the little Yorkie at the house I picked him up from. He takes treats very gently. I think that woman told me that he didn't want to go into the kennel at all but was quiet after she made him
go in."

We'll be evaluating Jethro over the next few days and will update this information as we get to know him better. Jethro is still desperately in need of a foster or adoptive home.

We received a phone call at 10:45 on Saturday night telling us that Jethro needs a new home, immediately. We don't have alot of details right now and pictures will follow soon, but Jethro needs a foster home immediately. We have found a place for him overnight only and boarding is full. We're told her friendly and sweet. Can you please open your heart and your home, even temporarily, for Jethro?

1. We're picky about our adopters. 
2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.  
   
3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
   
5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up? 
   
6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
