TITAN joined MOGS after being surrendered by his owner for "not being protective enough."
BACKGROUND
Titan is a victim of careless humans. His owner stopped a dog trainer in a mall parking lot and said she needed to get training for her 11 month old GSD, but couldn't really afford it. The trainer had a good deal of German Shepherd experience so agreed to come meet the dog, thinking he might have a client to adopt Titan. Once he met Titan he realized this wasn't what his client was looking for, but he was reluctant to leave Titan in the home because the husband had never wanted the dog in the first place and hated him. The wife had gotten Titan as a puppy despite this, and neither adult had done any training or research. The result was that Titan was an untrained, unsocialized, and under-exercised wild youngster. He was also desperate for affection. He has a small knot on his forehead that the vet says is the result of trauma, and it appears that his former owner hit him.
TEMPERAMENT
Titan loves other dogs, is good with kids, and excellent with women. He is sometimes reactive to strange males, though it appears that this is associated with his prior owner who treated him badly (appears to react only to men who look like that owner).
OTHER ANIMALSTitan was temporarily in a foster home with several dogs of all ages, and has done well with them all. He would really love a forever home that has a dog buddy his same age and size to play with, and run off all of his energy. He is currently in boarding and loves playing hard in doggie daycare.
Titan has not yet been tested with cats.
CHILDREN
We haven't seen him directly interact with chiildren but there was a child in his original home, and a baby in the home of the dog trainer who originally took him from that home.
MEDICAL
No known medical issues. Titan is up-to-date on all vaccines, has a current rabies chip and is microchipped and neutered.
If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable German Shepherd
who will love you forever,
Titan may be your ideal family member!
TITAN'S ADOPTION FEE: $350
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
