ADOPT ME!
LOCATION: Manhattan, KS
AGE: approx 6 yrs
TEMPERAMENT: very nice, well-adjusted and well-mannered. Won't mess in his crate so is at least partially housebroken. Fine with other dogs and loves people. Loves car rides.
Zorro somehow ended up alone and starving on the mean streets of a Kansas college town. He came in to the pound as a stray, emaciated and sick. Every bone in his body stuck out. But today he's healthy, happy and just waiting for his forever family to come get him!
Zorro is being fostered on a farm and loves to get out and about with his foster dad. He's very good about recall and sticking with his foster dad. He does ok with other dogs, tends to ignore the cats now (wasn't true at first), and is just a super nice boy.
Zorro likes to talk, so in his own words here's his story.
"Hi there, everyone, how are you? I'd love to meet you! I'd love to go home with you! I'd love to sleep on a comfy bed by you at night! Sounds like heaven to me, how about you? Call me! Come see me! Let's make beautiful music together!
"I'm not exactly sure what happened to me, but things were pretty grim until some nice people got me out of that pound. I was starving and sick. But the shelter staff actually fed me every day - what luxury! Do you know what it's like to eat grass or rocks or plastic because you haven't eaten in days? I do. I was desperate and wanted to live. And I made it!
"It was a really close call though. I was already on the schedule to die in that pound. Can't believe they'd kill me just to use my kennel for someone else, but I heard them say it happens every day. I'm one of the lucky ones. What's more it sounds like they went to a lot of trouble to get me. But then I have that effect on people (wink, wink). Now I'm fat, sassy healthy - and waiting for you!
"Is it my turn for a family yet?? I don't ever want to be homeless again!"
ZORRO's adoption fee is $300. This only covers a portion of the costs we incur to vet and board our rescue dogs. It includes: spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, vaccinations (rabies, distemper/parvo, bordetella), worming if needed and microchip).
