POSIE is a survivor who truly enjoys life!  She spent the first year or two of her life chained outdoors with no shelter.  She was then given away to a family member, who threw her outside 24/7 but at least did not chain her.  She crawled under the porch for shelter in the snow storms and subzero weather ....

Posie got pregnant and she had 12 puppies on Dec. 11 in the middle of a horrible cold spell with snow everywhere.  The wife "took pity" on her and brought Posie and her newborns into their basement, then called us.

When we first met Posie, she hated and distrusted most humans.  She was a walking furball of fear.  And why not?  All she had ever known was cruelty and suffering.

But this young lady has made a remarkable transition:  from chained and neglected dog to a super affectionate, fun-loving, toy-loving girl!  She's a wonderful house dog, has great house manners, is crate trained and house trained.  She's fine with other dogs.  Cats are unknown.   Older children only, please, no small children.

Posie loves to be outdoors in nice weather, to sit in the yard and chew on her tennins ball.  She also LOVES chasing squirrels and chipmunks (once caught a squirrel, to the foster's amazement).  She likes to be chased for the ball but will also sit and just enjoy the yard.  She's equally low energy in the house - she loves to curl up with you and get lots of petting and attention!  Posie is protective of her home/family and needs proper introductions to strangers.

Fostering pretty Posie has been like watching a rose unfold petal by petal. She had such a rough start -- was so uncertain and scared -- but fast became one great house dog.   Her pups long ago found great forever homes and Posie has been in foster care ever since.  Her foster mom adores her and wants her to find a very special forever home!

POSIE's ADOPTION FEE:  $300.  This covers only part of what we spend to vet and board our dogs.  At minimum it includes spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, vaccinations (rabies, distemper/parvo, bordetella), worming if needed and microchip.

More about Posie

Good with Dogs, Is Not Good with Kids

Special Needs: 07/2016 - NOTE: Officially being considered Nancy Campbell's adopted dog. Posie is no longer available for adoption.

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
