About Jester

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Declawed: No
  • Housetrained: Yes

ADOPT ME!

LOCATION: Kansas City, MO
AGE: 18 months
Temperament: This handsome fella has it all - smart, affectionate, good-looking, and ready for his forever home.

Update 5/5/09: Jester continues to do well in his foster home. He is completely housebroken. His foster mom recommends a home with no small dogs as he has a tendency to want to dominate them at the dog park. Foster mom also recommends a home with no male dogs. He would make a great playmate for a female dog though!

Update 4/17/09: Jester is extremely willing to please. He is fascinated with the 2 cats who live in his foster home. He still has a puppy mentality and doesn't always realize it isn't appropriate to play with the cats the same way he plays with dogs! Please understand Jester isn't being aggressive, he is curious. He clearly understands phrases like: 'be gentle with your kitty' or 'come away.' The cats trust him enough to lay down next to him.

Update 3/12/09: Jester is now quite the family dog. His foster mom says he has learned the usual commands (sit, stay, down), but will come to his new home with a list of the other commands he responds to (such as gentle, bed/crate, and leave it to name a few!). Jester is the complete package: smart, good-looking, playful, energetic and looking for his forever home. Jester will give you a lifetime of love. All he asks in return is plenty of exercise, strong leadership and maybe a few toys.

UPDATE 11.01.08: Jester is doing great with his new foster mom. She reports he is an absolutely sweet boy who loves to play and still has quite a bit of puppy in him. He is fabulous with other dogs and would love to have a doggie pal in his new forever home. He is also learning better manners with cats and new commands from his foster mom. Jester needs LOTS of exercise, so if you are looking for a jogging or biking partner, Jester is for you!

UPDATE 10.25.08: Jester went to a great new foster home this evening where he will continue learning his doggie manners. He is an absolutely stunning and beautiful boy. His pictures don't do him justice. He is 78 pounds of sweet love, so if you have room in your heart and home for this big guy, email us!!

Jester came to us from a high kill animal shelter. He was brought there as his previous owner could no longer care for him. He is a wonderful young boy who just wants to find his forever home where he will be loved and have someone to play with him. Jester loves to play with ropes or anything else he can shake. He is crate trained, but loves to get out in the yard to run and play. Jester is great with other dogs, and really adores attention from his humans too. Can you offer Jester a home for life?

Jester's adoption fee is $200. He is fully vetted and also microchipped. For an explanation of our fees and policies, please visit us at www.mogsrescue.com.

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
