About Raja

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Location: 64112
  • Housetrained: Yes

CONGRATULATIONS to Tammy S and her family!  Raja (aka Daisy) spent almost a year in boarding and foster care, waiting for her lifetime home.  It was worth the wait -- she now has a fabulous family with children all of her own, a doggie sibling and love that overflows.  Her heartworm treatment and all she went through are behind her, and a great life in front of her.  YAY!

TEMPERAMENT: All around fabulous girl

10.09   Raja has finished her heartworm treatment with flying colors.  Her foster dad is also a professional dog trainer and as a result Raja is now also fully trained and beautifully behaved!

5.18.09:
Raja moved from boarding to a foster home and is doing VERY well!
Raja's foster home reports that she:
-oves to swim
-likes male K-9 companions
-does a funny dance whenever its time to eat!
-enjoys car rides
-loves everyone, and loves to give gentle "Raja Kisses"
-when she feels she needs to give a correction to another dog it is done very politely
-knows sit, down, and loose leash walk
-can never have enough attention
-is house trained, kennel trained, and rarely barks!

Raja has been known to dislike puppies to the point of aggression, We have found she is fine around them, but only with 100% supervision. We were told she did not like female dogs, but have not seen signs of this. She just needs supervision when she is around females. She is still a bit dramatic and yelps at some of the weirdest things, but his has been slowly going away as she realizes that she will not be treated as she was treated in the past.

Raja is a adult girl who came to MOGS with King when their owners were incarcerated. She'd recently had a litter and was a bit high strung when she first arrived, but settled down nicely after her hormones calmed down. She comes to her name and enjoys slow walks and running in the yard.

Please consider giving this lovely girl a new forever home today!!

Good with Dogs, Good with Kids

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
