Update 11.20.10
Maggie has been back with MOGS for over a year now. She is doing absolutely wonderfully in her foster home. She is very sweet and gets along well with the other larger dogs. In the last year Maggie has developed a bit of a problem where she sometimes leaks a small amount of urine overnight while in her crate. The vet investigated and couldn't find anything wrong, and said that this sometimes happens with certain dogs as they start to get older. To prevent this, Maggie now takes a low dose of an inexpensive medication, which her foster has no problem giving to her.
We love Maggie dearly, but would love it even more if she could find a forever home. If you'd like a well-behaved, calm, sweet middle-aged dog, please apply for Maggie today. We'd love to see her go to a home with another larger dog, but she needs a home without smaller dogs, cats or small children.
Update 9.10.09
Maggie was returned to MOGS today by her adoptive family due to an incident involving a small dog at a relative's home. We do not blame Maggie as she and the other dogs should not have been left alone and unsupervised, especially at a home not well known to her.
Maggie's Story: Maggie is a super sweet girl who was an owner surrender to MOGS. She's a GSD/Golden mix and is great with people of all ages and loves kids. She got along great with the resident dogs when she was boarded. She is very laid back and loves to cuddle and be petted. She doesn't understand why her family left her, and she became very depressed at the boarding kennel and really misses having a family to call her own. She knows some basic obedience including how to walk nicely on a leash and comes when called as well as lays down when told. She loves to follow her people around wherever they go.
Maggie's adoption fee is $175. This fee only covers a potion of the fees we incur to vet and board our rescue dogs. It includes: spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, vaccinations (rabies, distemper/parvo, bordetella), worming if needed and microchip.
