More Information:
MONTY is a GORGEOUS red and black male who is going to make someone a stunning lifetime companion!
Monty had a rough start. He was a breeder dog who was used to mass produce litter after litter of pups. He came to us very unsure of humans and absolutely terrified of collars and leashes! He was clearly left in his kennel 24/7 and taken out ONLY to breed. He shows signs of having been forced to come out at the puppy mill -- he bolts at anything that sounds like a chain and the minute the leash tightens he would start to bolt. He's already doing MUCH better, though, in just a short time.
He was understandably scared, since his entire world had just turned upside down! He lived in a kennel all his life and touched grass for the first time when he came to us (wasn't quite sure what it was, either).
Everything is new and different for Monty -- he's just learning to enjoy human company! As with most puppy mill dogs, he has to learn to trust humans. He's incredibly smart and will be a wonderful dog once he gets the hang of "normal" living as a loved pet. He's so used to being an object, used for production, that he simply has to learn the good life. But it's already clear he's going to be an amazing boy for the right family.
Since Monty still needs some work to regain his trust, we recommend no children at this time. He was fine with the other female GSD's from the same puppy mill but we have not yet tested him with other dogs. He actually has given a small kiss to his foster mom, and seems to do fine with the cats in the foster house.
With consistent TLC, training and patience, Monty will make a wonderful companion.
His ideal family: a quiet household where he can gradually get used to the idea of life with a loving family. An experienced and strong GSD leader who will train him well.
Monty’s adoption fee is $300.00.
This fee covers a portion of the vet and boarding expenses for the dogs we save. It includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies, distemper/parvo and bordatella vaccinations, deworming and microchip.
