ATTICUS is an extra large bundle of love! He was surrendered by his owner in a very unhealthy state. He was emaciated and was terrified of everything at the shelter. He is currently being treated for parasites - specifically a tapeworm! He's startng to gain weight, but has a ways to go -- he is a good 25-30lbs underweight!
He's now in a great foster home, and really enjoys the company of his foster fur-sibling, a beautiful Siberian Husky. They enjoy playing together (no matter how cold it is outside!), and lay together quite often when hanging out at home.
He's a typical German Shepherd in every sense; he likes to try to "protect" his foster mom, and warns her of strange people or dogs by barking. They've been working with one of our trainers, and have found he is one smart boy! Within 15 minutes of one session, he had already improved and was no longer barking at things unknown! He's also working on his leash manners; he's a big boy, so once he puts on more weight, he will really need to walk nicely, or he'll be able to pull most people off their feet!
We're still getting to know Atticus in his foster home, so we'll update this information as we learn more. Please check back often for updates!

If you're looking for a beautiful, intelligent
German Shepherd
who will provide a lifetime of love and companionship,
ATTICUS may be your ideal family member!
ATTICUS's ADOPTION FEE: $300 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend
over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
