BELLE is a gorgeous young girl who is now getting her chance to love life! This young lady is as sweet and as loving as they come. She’s an active young pup with lots of energy to burn!
Belle’s story is like so many that we’ve seen in rescue. Her owner bought her from a breeder when she was a young puppy, and once she grew bigger, they threw her out in the back yard and no longer paid her any attention. She went almost a year and a half without any socialization (with humans or dogs), training, leadership, or love. Her nutrition and diet was pretty poor too, because she came to us very skinny and with a dry, brittle coat. She also has fly strikes on her ears, a clear indication she was an outside dog. Now Belle is with us, safe and starting a new chapter, being socialized, and learning to be comfortable in the world around her.
Belle is starting to make progress, thanks to her wonderful foster home! She enjoys running around with her foster siblings and learning how to play appropriately with them. She's gaining confidence every day, but is so unsure of herself and of humans. She previously led a reclusive life and the big wide world around her is still new to her. Her devoted foster home is working with her on that - and her new family must continue it. Her new family needs to take her lots of places - Petsmart, Lowe's, Home Depot, on walks, to the drive-thru, etc, and do this for an extended period of months. This is how she will ultimately get comfortable with this strange new world that's opening up for her. The good news is we think she will continue her steady progress and happiness in this chapter of her life.
Belle is house trained. She shares her foster home with 2 other dogs (one GSD and one small breed). She would prefer dogs to not be in her face, but once properly introduced she does great. She enjoys going on walks, and is working hard on her leash manners. Belle MUST have a doggie sibling of approximately her own size, to set a confident example for her and teach her.
Belle needs a home with a family who will continue her socialization and familiarization with the wonderful variety of the world around her. She needs proper introductions to strangers and a strong human leader to look up to!
Belle loves to run and play, and would requires a securely fenced yard. She would love an active active family who will take her on walks, hikes, outings. She loves doggie company, likes to play, and yet is also content to be inside with you during the quiet times. She truly loves being with her humans!
Are you looking for a gorgeous, young GSD who will stick by your side? Do you have the love and patience to continue Belle’s training and adjustment to the big wide world she never knew? If so, you'll be rewarded with one remarkable girl who will truly love and protect you forever!
