DECEASED - Oct. 6 2021. Adopter Ferryl Simpson emailed us that she had fluid on her heart and the emergency vet told her DG wouldn't survive the surgery. Godspeed, beauty. Til we meet again.
Please Note: DG is currently in boarding, due to a lack of foster homes. We are still getting to know her, so our information is limited at this time. If you are interested in fostering her, please submit a Foster Application! http://mogsrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/
DG is a BEAUTIFUL and spunky young lady! She is around 2 years old, and has oodles of energy to burn! Despite the fact that when her owner surrendered her she was starving and neglected, her disposition and attitude couldn't be better. It's almost as if she knows greater things are to come for her. And they will!
DG was an outdoor dog for her entire life, left alone, tied up in the back yard. She is large and untrained, and now needs to learn how to be an "indoor dog" and learn proper "house manners". Examples of this are: no jumping up, no "mouthing", no stealing food from the table or counter, learning to sit and wait to enter and exit the house, wait nicely for her food, and more. She also needs to be potty trained.
DG gets along well with other dogs, and would really love to have a doggie buddy of similar size in her home to learn from and bond with. She tested well with our volunteer's 4 dogs, but she will need further testing when it comes to small dogs. We do not recommend her in a home with cats at this time. She gives chase when they are in the same room together, and seems to be hunting for them when they are out of sight.
We think she would be fine in a home with children, as long as they are well-supervised. Since she is untrained, she is mouthy, and does jump up. She could easily knock over a small child during play.
DG loves to go out on walks. She does need some work on a leash; she is very strong and wants to pull with all her might!
DG simply adores people, and can't wait to spend more quality time with them!
Come back soon for an update and more information about this special young lady!
DOGS: YES! Would LOVE a doggie buddy!
CATS: NO. Appears to have a prey drive.
KIDS: Will need to be tested, but for now, kids ages 10 and up due to her lack of manners and training.
IDEAL FAMILY: A VERY active and loving family who will exercise this young girl adn give her the training and leadership she needs!
If you're looking for a gorgeous, young, trainable German Shepherd
who will love you forever,
DG may be your ideal family member!
DG's ADOPTION FEE: $300 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend
over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
