FOSTER (OR FOREVER) HOME
NEEDED BY MAY 24!

Buck and Daisy are a GORGEOUS, sweet, loving pair who need a home together!  They're german shepherd/white lab mixes with beautiful markings, soft coats and lots of kisses to give.

In 2011, when Buck and Daisy were just 2 yrs old, their family's home flooded.  Loving neighbors took Buck and Daisy in until the family could rebuild.  Then unforeseen circumstances came up and the owners could not rebuild.  The kind neighbors have kept Buck and Daisy ever since.  They've fallen in love with these great dogs, but now have health reasons, must move, and can't keep Buck and Daisy any longer.  They're heartbroken and have been desperately searching for a place for these two beauties.  WE HAVE A TEMPORARY FOSTER HOME FOR THEM UNTIL MAY 24 ONLY!  PLEASE HELP US HELP THEM - FOSTER OR ADOPT!

Buck and Daisy have been together since they were puppies and are truly bonded to each other.  Daisy is the leader and Buck is very attached to her.  It's incredible to watch how they turn their heads at the same time in the same direction when out in the yard, go in the same direction together, etc.  These two clearly love each other dearly and are a family!  They MUST go to a home together.

They're German Shepherd-white lab mixes, 4-5 yrs old, beautiful dogs and super sweet!  They love to be petted and love their treats.  Daisy is a little bolder and Buck is a little shyer.  Daisy will come right up to you for loving and Buck will soon follow.  They gave us lots and lots of kisses within 10 minutes of meeting them!  Daisy is the confident lady and Buck is the gentle, playful gentleman.  Both LOVE to get attention and give it right back to you!

Buck and Daisy were outdoor dogs at their original home.  When the neighbors took them in, they tried to bring them indoors but one of their senior dogs became very aggressive to them, so Buck and Daisy have remained outdoor dogs to keep them safe from the aggressive dog.  But the short time they were allowed indoors, they LOVED it!  Their temporary foster home will work on housetraining with them, and they will LOVE the indoor life!!

Interestingly, Buck showed a lot of reluctance around men at first, which indicates unkind treatment.  But he's come out of this and is now just a gentle, shy guy who approaches you slowly and softly, and then loves on you.  These two are heartbreakers.

The kids lived in a large 4 ft chain link yard for the last 3 yrs and have made no effort to get out, so will probably be fine with a lower, 4 ft fence.

OTHER DOGS:  Buck and Daisy have both been tested around medium and large dogs and did great. They recently met their temp foster's 10 week old puppy - and sweet Buck was scared of her!  Daisy loved her.   We have not officially tested them around small dogs, but we believe they  will be ok (with supervision, as with all large dog-small dog interactions).  CATS:  We have not tested them around cats and that would have to be done.  KIDS:  Both have been around children as young as 7 yrs and did very well.

Buck and Daisy seem to love the water - they went wading right away into their temp foster's small backyard pond!  They might really enjoy lake visits.

Are you looking for a a couple of terrific, low-key, loving, gorgeous buddies to round out your family?  Dogs who will love-love-love you, keep you company, and liven up your life?  Look no further!  Buck and Daisy are as wonderful as they come - and are looking for a family who will show them life as indoor dogs and love them FOREVER.

BUCK AND DAISY'S COMBINED ADOPTION FEE:   $350
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.

Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids

STOP!! READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO ANY FURTHER!

  1. We're picky about our adopters.
  2. Are you sure you're up to having a GSD?  They're not for everyone.  They take a lot of time, effort, training.  They shed year round.  They're big.  They scare lots of people.  They "mouth" and herd.  They're usually strong-willed and stubborn.  You have to have references and a home visit.  If you're not willing or able to deal with any of this, please don't waste your time or ours applying.
  3. Will the dog be an inside family pet? We do not adopt to outdoor-only homes. All dogs must be indoor dogs.
  4. Do you leave your dog outdoors when you're not home?   We do not adopt to homes that leave their animals outside when they're gone.  You must put your dogs indoors when you're gone.  A 3 yr old adopted MOGS dog died when the owners went to run errands, left her outdoors, the gate was somehow opened, and she was hit by a car.  Tragic and 100% preventable. Even privacy fences get broken into.  Gates are opened.  Thieves steal dogs. Never leave your dog outdoors when you're not home!!
  5. What's your plan for unexpected events and major changes?  New baby? Divorce?  Moving?   How you will provide for your dog if your family breaks up?
  6. Will you make a lifetime commitment?  It's your responsibility to keep your dog safe, loved and cared for FOR LIFE.
  7.  Do you understand we expect you to keep that lifetime commitment?  It's YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stick by your family member -- no matter what.
  8. Are you unable or unwilling to make a lifetime commitment? Do not apply.
