About Aggie | |
|
|
AGGIE is a sweet lil' lady, who was found chained up, and abandoned in her yard after her owners moved away. While her beginning was rough, she's now on the right track, and is enjoying life as a beloved member of her foster home!
Required:
1) An adoptive home for Aggie
must
be willing to continue work with crate training, until she can better handle unsupervised time alone inside the house.
2) Aggie
requires
another dog in her forever home. An energetic, but laid-back dog of the same general size is ideal.
TEMPERAMENT
Sweet Aggie was left behind by her owners (with her brother, fellow MOGS dog Auggie), starving, and confused as to why her people weren't coming back. Their clear loss is absolutely someone else's gain. This little girl is a complete love, and bonds very quickly and strongly to her human(s). She's just learning what this whole thing called love and belly rubs is, and she's slowly realizing how sweet it is. She now loves to give kisses, sticks to her foster mom like velcro, and seeks out attention and pets whenever she can get them. Her personality is still evolving; we suspect she may have had a hand raised to her in the past, as she tends to shy away from humans even hold out a hand with an offering, or for her to sniff. Her forever family will need to take time to allow Aggie to get to know them and gain their trust.
Aggie is working hard to learn good house manners, and basically, how to be an indoor dog. She does like to try sneaking up on the furniture at times, and is doing well learning some basic commands, including: sit, wait, release (for food), and come. She is now house and crate trained, but her family will need to ensure there's absolutely nothing for her to grab around the outside of her kennel. She's so smart that she can figure out how to pull a variety of things inside the kennel if available, to help her pass the time while her foster mom is out! She doesn't quite know what to do with toys yet, and is learning the luxuries of having things like kongs filled with peanut butter, treats, and well, regular meals.
OTHER ANIMALS
Aggie co-exists nicely with the other dogs in her foster home, but it wasn't always like that. When she first came in, it took some time to help her adjust and integrate in with everyone else. She initially showed some possessiveness of things such as the dog beds and her kennel, but her experienced foster mom took things slowly, always watching every dog's behavior, and made corrections where needed. Aggie will now do an occasional bid to get one of the other dogs to play with her; though she tends to steer clear of another foster who's a bit of a spitfire! She needs to be in a home with another similar-sized dog; a energetic, yet calm play buddy would be best. Her foster Mom has said Aggie likes to do the zoomies with another dog in her foster home!
CHILDREN
As Aggie continues to come out of her shell, we believe she'd be best placed in a home where any children are age 8 and up.
MEDICAL
No known medical issues.
Aggie is a little hidden gem, just waiting to be discovered! Slow is the way to go to ensure success and to help her become the BEST furry companion one lucky family could ever hope for! Apply now if you think she's a great match with your family.
AGGIE'S ADOPTION FEE: $250
This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. In many cases it also includes surgery and various types of vet treatment for standard issues such as hot spots, ear infections and so on.
